The Union Missionary Baptist Church has been a historic center of worship for black residents in Jefferson, Texas since 1842, when it’s doors opened to all people of color. Thanks to the interest and support of the local community, and their partnership with the Collins Academy team, the church site is facing a restoration. [ LEARN MORE ]
Paddlefish Project
The Paddlefish Project is an innovative science enrichment program that networks schools with scientists conducting special studies related to the reintroduction of the American Paddlefish, Polyodon spathula, to Big Cypress Bayou and Caddo Lake in East Texas.

Port Jefferson History and Nature Center
The Port Jefferson History & Nature Center is a hands-on, outdoor learning center and environmental park promoting habitat restoration along the historic riverfront in Jefferson, Texas. Educational programs, activities and outreach projects demonstrating the importance of history and nature are available to visitors. Programs are developed and managed by the Collins Academy team.
